I am a visual artist originally from Macclesfield (UK), currently based in East London. My art practice spans a variety of mediums (predominately sculpture, video and song), and is presently centred around a conceptual and material engagement with craft making processes, and a wrong approach to their productions. I am considering craft in an expansive sense, which is inclusive of object-making as well as sonic explorations within song-writing and improvisation, through which I aim to unpick and question an object or material’s intended value or function. Works are often borne out of an attempt to push against conditions of precarity or flimsiness, in a political, structural or material sense. The resulting work often refers to: socio-political situation, self-critique, bad feelings and broken things. In 2020, I was awarded a full scholarship to study an MFA in Sculpture at The Slade (UCL) from the Sarabande Foundation. My work has previously been exhibited and performed at Berwick Film Festival (2018), The Newbridge Project (2020), Victoria Miro (2022) and Cubitt (2023).
